We comment on major planning applications where we feel there is a positive or negative impact on Public Rights of Way and important walking environments. We don’t object to housing developments or new industrial estates or large solar farms on principle, they have to be built somewhere and Local Authorities have National Government targets to meet. However, we do try to indicate how schemes could be improved for walking.

Sometimes these development plans incorporate new greenfield walk able open space with new paths and parks in areas where previously there was none and so new developments can actually improve the walking environment. However if planning applications involve unsatisfactory path diversions or path closures which impact the path network, or the loss of important protected landscapes that are heavily walked with high public amenity value then our local Group and Shropshire Area Ramblers can and will possibly comment and object
