You don't have to be a member to come along, members' families and friends and walkers from other groups are all warmly invited. There will often be a special guest speaker. Come along, share some food and drinks with us and get to know more about your fellow local Ramblers.
Other social evenings we have held recently included:
- an evening based on the theme of planning walks. Many of our walk leaders came along. It was great to say thank you over a glass of wine and some home made snacks and cakes.
- an illustrated talk by a Ramblers Holidays walk leader about her experiences leading famous walks in the UK and overseas
- a talk from local gear expert and expedition leader Peter Moss on how to keep safe and comfortable in all weathers, plus a chance to take a hands on look at some state of the art walking kit.
- a talk by Cadi Price on the work of The Severn Gorge Countryside Trust and the ways in which The World Heritage Site is managed for the benefit of walkers, the local community and for wildlife
All our social evenings include refreshments and our famous home made cakes of course.
Other social events have included daytime training courses on map and compass navigation, walk leading and first aid and Xmas lunch walks.
Most years we host away weekends staying in great walking areas such as The Peak District, The Welsh Hills and The Welsh Coast with plenty of time to socialise as well as great walking.
A small group of members walks a National Trail together over a week in late Spring staying at B&Bs. We have walked The West Highland Way, The Wolds Way, The Ridgeway, The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path, The Cotswolds Way and next year we will complete The South Downs Way.
